ABOUT ME

I'm a scrapbooker, quilter, and all around crafty dabbler living in Northern California with my husband of eighteen years, two teen girls, and a guinea pig named Bean. You never know what my hair color is going to be at any given time!

Scrapbooking
I started scrapbooking in 2005. My first page was about my oldest daughter’s 2nd birthday, complete with plain cardstock background, photos cut in shapes and sticker sneeze! My style isn’t clean and simple nor artsy messy, it’s somewhere in between. I don’t like to be hedged into a particular trend or color scheme, but a few things are fairly consistent. I like layers and clusters, but not so many that they overpower the photos. Layouts need texture with a little mixed media, cut files, twine, or stitching. The finishing touch is a sprinkling of little bits like ink splatters, enamel dots, sequins, or even on occasion some brads (which I still keep because they are so cute). Oh and also, I use hearts and stars a lot!

Quilting
My first quilt was a Sunbonnet Sue wallhanging in 1998 that is still one of the only quilts I own, since most of them have been gifts or auctioned off for charity.  My primary focus for several years was fandom quilts which I made both with a group, and on my own.  I love bright modern colors and whimsical patterns, and I'm slightly addicted to paper piecing.

The Being Human years:

In 2013 I was smitten by a the Being Human fandom, and a vampire named Hal.  I made a quilt for the actor playing said vampire, Damien Molony.  The whole story about this special quilt on the DMF Forum here.

I also spearheaded a massive fundraiser in the name of the show and it's creator/head writer Toby Whithouse. (who also has written for Doctor Who and The Game, amongst others.  I made a duplicate of Damien's Show No Mercy quilt, Cast and Crew donated props, signed items, a soundtrack, and Lord Toby himself donated a signed script to the cause. Together we smashed the fundraising target, netting £2,139.49 ($2812.34) for charity. You can see the fundraiser details on the DMF Forum here.

The Twilight years:

From 2009-2013, I was a member of a quilting group dedicated to all things Twilight and quilting.  Together we made 5 Twilight Fandom quilts, the first sent to the author herself, Stephanie Meyer, the others auctioned for charity.  Together we raised around $3000, grew our quilting skills, and made lasting friendships! Posts with my work can be found here
